New York indie band Monobloc to tour Europe
There it is again: this melancholy, slightly shaved coolness of the New York guitar bands, whose most successful representatives are of course still the Strokes. But the younger generation is already ready: At least that’s what you think when you listen to the great singles “I’m Just Trying To Love You”, “Take Me” and “Where Is My Garden” by the New York band Monobloc. The five musicians come from the still lively New York DIY scene and are now ready to perform in Europe. The BBC already loves their songs and singer Timothy Waldron’s voice is not forgotten so quickly. The Strokes comparison can then only be limited to the Coolnees, stylistically they are already a little different on the way. Guitarist Nina Lüders once said in an interview with a New York online magazine that the monobloc sound was “experimental Sovietwave-inspired indie rock”, while bassist Michael ‘Mop’ Silverglad swears more on “minimalist post-punk with pop sensibilities”. Suitable is somehow both. In July you have the chance to experience the New Yorkers live in Germany: Monobloc will be in Munich as Bloc party support and Berlin as a solo show in July.
