A wintery highland scene. A line of fence posts undulates away into a valley of brown moorland, over the shoulder of a hill carpeted with frozen grass and moss, interspersed with climbs of sedge.

On the far side of the valley, a line of dark green pine forest stretches across the moors to the flanks of a low mountain, its rounded peak white with frost. A sheet of white cloud hangs over this and more distant mountains, giving way to bright blue sky above.
