TIL: On 2 July 1903, the Gordon Bennett Cup ran through the Curragh, the first international motor race held in the United Kingdom as it was then, and Ireland was suggested as the venue because racing was illegal on British public roads. Following a lobbying campaign, Kildare was chosen on the basis of the straightness of its roads. As a compliment to Ireland, the British team chose to race in Shamrock green which later became known as British racing green.

It was a good #Indycar qualifying for deep pocketed prospects. Nolan Siegel continuing to show some progress finally in the early season of his first full year, and Kyffin Simpson following up his first career top 10 finish with another top 10 run in time trials. I don't know how deep his pockets are, but you also had a solid 12th for Louis Foster who has shown some strong speed in qualifying this year at least relative to what you expect from an RLL car these days.
Restarts in the #NASCAR Xfinity series race today were an absolute mess, we had double digit cautions and most of them were spins or bang ups on restarts. Some argued going into this season that the stacked rookie class would improve the series but at this point I think the big influx of young talent has kind of driven a much more crash and DNF prone season than usual.
Obviously like any racing fan I sometimes enjoy seeing a few non-injurious incidents breaking up the race, but when you get over 10 cautions that is just starting to make everybody look amateurish, especially when you do it in as many races as they have this year.
