I’ve spent over a decade documenting incredible feats of endurance, from ocean swims stretching for miles to mountain ultras spanning hundreds and it's moments like these that inspire me to dig deeper and do the best job I can when documenting such moments.
Last weekend, during Sanna Duthie’s 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path record attempt, I caught this moment between her and her dad at a checkpoint at around 2am, 14 hours in to the attempt.
It’s the kind of scene that shows exactly how athletes like Sanna make the impossible possible.
Behind every runner pushing their limits is a circle of people who truly believe in their dream.
The ones who give their time freely, who show up at every adventure without question.
No glory, no money, nothing to gain other than a close friend or family member achieving their dreams, just pure, selfless support.
Steve, Sanna’s father, slept only a few minutes over the entire 48 hours, determined to do everything he could to help her finish ahead of schedule.
Alongside him were Andrew, her partner, and a small crew of close friends, running sections with her, carrying supplies through remote night stretches, and quietly doing whatever it took to keep her moving.
You'll see this scene in the documentary featuring both of Sanna's attempts later in the year.

Running highly technical downhill, came into a really great flow.
Took a bigger rock with my left foot, great and long flight phase. Landed on my right foot and bent over my ankle. 😭
5k with 700m elevation loss left to go.
Made it somehow to my car and back home.
Hopefully nothing serious. 🤞

Focus on the Trail - The Beginners Guide to Trail Running Photography
Will be published next week.
The main driver for the book was to help trail runners spend a bit more time looking and taking in the sights and sounds of the trail they love running through.
Hopefully through the guide you can learn a few small things, no matter what phone or camera you are using, that will help you appreciate more of the trail and most importantly, capture better photos of your adventures that you can look back on for a lifetime!

Yesterday I ran the PIUT100 (in the Paznaun-Ischgl area). The original course had to be adapted to recent weather (snow above 2500m) but they managed to keep both distance (100km) and elevation gain (6000m) as planned. Oddly (for me) I struggled a lot on the uphills, while I managed to run well all the rest. #trailrunning #mountainrunning

The idea for this book came from my own journey. Bringing a camera with me on most of my runs has not only improved my photography but has also deepened my overall enjoyment of trail running. It’s helped me slow down and truly appreciate the natural world, and that has become the driving force behind writing this book, to focus on the trail.
As you bring your camera onto the trail, you’ll start noticing more, the flowers lining the path, the insects moving beneath your feet, the intricate details of nature that make up the world around you. This awareness makes every run richer and more meaningful.
That’s why I’ve written this book, to inspire you to take a step back, focus on the trail for what it is, and emerge with both improved photography skills and a greater appreciation for the environment. Together, we’ll capture the magic of the trails and the wonders they have to offer.

Three easy hours that almost didn’t happen. Thought about ditching it to get catch up on reading and some organizing. But a wintry mix descends tomorrow, and it’s been warm enough to melt last month’s snow. Took two hours to clear my head, which let me remember this pastime helped me through a terrible 1st marriage, and it’ll help to get through the next few years. Best to show up healthy and focused.
Now to get in some good trouble.
