First snow of the season atop Tahoma today.

A misty landscape featuring a stream flowing over rocks, surrounded by evergreen trees and autumn-colored foliage. Snow can be seen on the ground, creating a serene, tranquil scene.

⛰️✨ For #ScapeDay I’m sharing this view of majestic Mt. Rainier — glaciers, ridges, and alpine meadows all in one breathtaking frame. Nothing compares to standing in the presence of such a giant of the Pacific Northwest. #LandscapePhotography #MtRainier #Scape #photography

A tall evergreen tree stands in a green alpine meadow with wildflowers, while the massive snow-covered slopes and rocky ridges of Mt. Rainier rise dramatically in the background under a clear blue sky.

Two exciting things to share; yesterday I saw a big bear and today it rained! Washington finally getting some much needed water, we are running low everywhere and this state has a reputation for being wet. For example Paradise lodge & Inn inside Mt Rainier National Park ran out of water two weeks ago! Here is how Myrtle Falls flow was on July 6 compared to yesterday, September 28.

Thankfully big storm came in today, which put this black bear on a mission yesterday to eat all the berries left. I was guiding a group of six, we had the perfect viewpoint safely on a high ridge two creeks & valleys away. Forecast is calling for possibly a foot of snow (30cm) this week! Things are looking up already and its only Monday.

And here's Mt. Rainier! I had hoped to see it on my flight but I didn't expect to get such a good view. Absolutely majestic

Hiked up to Muir snowfield today; found a deep crack! My friend and I discussed our unused crevasse rescue skills and gratitude for not needing to use them. Our September turns are in!

Been doing a lot of backpacking recently, reaching some new sides of Tahoma (Rainier), Koma Kulshan (Baker) and a little in between. Im a bit behind on posts, but Ive been exploring some of the biggest glaciers and finding some of the oldest trees Washington state still has. More stories to come, seasons changing, new opportunities arising and the world has much to process. There is peace in the mountains. Hope you are finding it.

A mountainous Mt Rainier landscape featuring the Nisqually glacier, surrounded by rocky terrain under a clear blue sky. The mountain has patches of snow & glaciers tumbling down its steep slopes.A narrow, dark water channel flows between two walls of glacial snow known as a crevasse. The crack appears quite deep, and its too dark to know how deep it is!A snowboarder looks down a large crack in a glacier. A massive Mt Rainier can be seen in the background of a clear blue sky.

Climbing Mt. Rainier at sunrise, when the first light turns the snow a glowing red.

A mountaineer, roped in for safety, climbs up the snowy slope of Mt. Rainier at sunrise. The snow is illuminated with a reddish glow from the early morning light, contrasting sharply with the deep blue sky above. A flagged pole marks the route across the incline, and faint climbers can be seen further up the ridge. The scene captures the stark beauty and solitude of high-altitude alpine climbing.

Spent the last week in Tacoma WA for work. Hot at the beginning but air quality was clear which was a good change of pace from northern Illinois. Had good local coffee and was able to visit the Port of Tacoma. 61 deg F and raining when I left which was on point for the PNW. It's been 10 years since I was out there and I need to go back. #travel #work #pnw #mtrainier #tacoma #photography

Hiked up to a snow/glacier patch below Anvil Rock on Mt Rainier. Basically right side of the Muir route out of Paradise, still a lot of people but less. We topped out at 8500 content with 1500 vertical run down. Took a closer look at Little Tahoma and where the Cowlitz & Paradise glacier meet.
