This week's #NewBooks at the library: One Step Sideways, Three Steps Forward from @princetonupress that I hope to review in the near future; the second volume of the beautifully illustrated variorum version of the collected fiction of #HPLovecraft from Chiroptera Press (volume 3 is on order); and Mammouth de Durfort, a little memento from my visit a few months ago to the Paris Museum of Natural History about their exceptional mounted #Mammoth skeleton.

In my talk ‘Museum criticism for hackers’ at #38C3, I looked at the history of the online collection of the State Museums Berlin, talked about major turning points in digital collections and about a software called GOS developed by the museums in the 20th century.

The talk is an invitation to participate in the critical development, opening and reflection of digital collections, for example by supporting open knowledge networks such as #Wikidata

These are zines done with students that came out of seminars from 2021-2024 at TU Berlin during our 4 year Museums and Society project.

The zines are on museum data and social issues, critical annotations, virtual reality, and politics of representation. Two of these seminars were co-taught with my colleagues Freya Schwachenwald and Pegah Byroum-Wand.

Some layouts were done by working groups of students themselves, and several by our student researchers in the project, Meryem Coşkun and Julia Reidy. Thanks so much!
