The Northern Lighthouse Board had an open day in Oban this past weekend with a rare opportunity to go aboard their large ship, NLV Pharos, here's a view looking down on the helicopter deck.
The replacement for its smaller sister ship, Polestar, is due for delivery within a few weeks and hopes are that they will have an open day for that as well.
Hey, I need help with #AWS #RDS.
I've this #Postgresql #RDS in private subnets.
I want to access it with the #psql cli (or any client really).
I see two ways.
One, which I find easy, with an #EC2 that acts as a #Bastion with #SSM so it remains private but requires a tunnel.
And one with a #RDSProxy exposed via a #NLB which is more involved but requires no tunnel.
Is there any other approach?
Something so obvious I missed it?

I wound up taking some beauty shots of grandma’s sewing machine. I am shocked at how good of condition the wiring is in. Either the service center that worked on it did a wiring job.. at some point… or they used some mighty fine wire back in the day.
Edit: I don't think it's been re-wired; the bakelite plug looks original.

I have my grandmother’s sewing machine. I did a little digging tonight, and it appears to be a New Home NLB from probably 1949.
I guess it’s time to read a manual and see if I have all/enough parts, if anything needs to be replaced, and what the spare parts situation is for things like bobbins or bobbin cases.
Also should probably give it an electrical once over to make sure everything is in safe operating condition.

I’m looking at library.c (https://github.com/phpredis/phpredis/blob/044b30386f0418e9ed2a2bbc3b79582520d008d8/library.c#L349) where the error is thrown but can’t see a specific cause in our code.
We’re terminating TLS at the NLB, and that’s only because we couldn’t find any other way to expose our Redis clusters to the other host we’re migrating off of.
