𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, a time to increase understanding of this digestive disorder that slows or stops the normal movement of food from the stomach to the small intestine. Gastroparesis can cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, bloating, and feeling full quickly after eating, which often leads to weight loss and malnutrition. The condition is linked to nerve damage, especially to the vagus nerve, and can be triggered by diseases such as diabetes, surgeries, or certain medications. Early diagnosis and management are crucial to improve quality of life and prevent complications.

Living with gastroparesis can be challenging due to its unpredictable symptoms and impact on daily activities. It is important to debunk myths that label it as an eating disorder or laziness since the condition physically limits digestion and energy levels. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms through dietary changes, medications, and addressing underlying causes like diabetes. If you experience persistent digestive issues or unexplained weight loss, consult your healthcare provider promptly for proper evaluation and care.

Raising awareness during this month helps support research and education on gastroparesis, encouraging patients and families to seek help and reduce stigma. Together, we can improve understanding, promote early diagnosis, and advocate for better treatments. Stay informed, share knowledge, and show support for those affected by this complex condition.

Evening, Twters.

Genuinely having a tough time of it. House hunting is not going well, though we've 3 more viewings lined up for tomorrow.

The news about #pip is terrifying - PIP makes up about 33% of my income so losing it will be devastating, and there's not a lot I can do about it as my condition fluctuates. I'm having a really tough day during a really tough time, and I'm about ready to crawl into bed and not emerge again til it's all better.

Morning Twters.

Been awake since 3,30 this morning with dreadful nerve pain in my leg. I've taken as much medication as I can, which has just about taken the edge off it, but has also made me quite woozy and thick headed (thanks, opioids).

Need to ring the gp at 8 to do a medication review anyway, then I will try to get some more sleep.

I hope you all have a much better start to your days! 😘

#PSA about some #misinformation...

#CerebralPalsy is a #PhysicalDisability, not a #MentalDisability, the same as any other #NerveDamage, #NervousSystemDisorder, or #MobilityImpairment. Just because someone is in a wheelchair and has trouble talking does not mean they are "nonverbal" or have any issue with thinking. In fact, the number one stressor of people with cerebral palsy is the widespread misconception that they have a mental disorder: they are not, they have normally functioning brains with malfunctioning connections.

Regardless, #Disabled people, mental or otherwise, can still be #queer, and are still able to make decisions about their own lives for themselves. Even a severe mental impairment is not going to make someone believe they are #gay or #transgender when they are not.

This is simply a fact of reality, and it is the case whether the president of the United States, the owner of Twitter, or the moderators of Instagram accepted as true.

I have tried to fix my tmj and ear ringing for years through doctors, physiotherapy, night guards, medication, and an mri.

Nothing has worked. Nothing was discovered, so I assume it's nerve damage caused by a bad wisdom tooth removal when I was 22 around when it started.

I just hate it so much.

Does anyone know of any doctors with a specialty in both #T1D and #Gastroparesis? Doesn’t even need to be local. I would be happy with virtual or even traveling to find someone knowledgeable on this degenerative duo. I have managed this combo for years but it is only going to get worse and all I’m getting from docs thus far is google-quality recommendations.

Things nobody told me about #ChronicIllness and #NerveDamage is that sometimes there will be a random container of something that goes bad simply because you lack the strength to open it and it fits none of your Opening Things tools, and so you get sick of trying and have to sit with the knowledge that a smoothie bottle has defeated you for four days and now your hands also hurt

A clinical trial is underway testing a new type of therapy its developer says addresses damage to nerve cells associated with a number of neurological disorders.

People with ‘crocodile tears syndrome’ cry while eating because damaged nerves activate their tear glands as well as their salivary glands.

People with ‘crocodile shoes syndrome’ find themselves inexplicably drawn to the musical works of Jimmy Nail.
