I'm a confident enough person to admit that I'm changing my mind. About #KamalaHarris. I was not particularly excited about her as a candidate back in 2020, but come on; she was up against possibilities like Elizabeth Warren. When Biden chose her as veep, it seemed a fairly cynical demographic "expand the tent" move, predictable and understandable. I didn't like the fact that the Dems went with someone whose major career was a prosecutor. Honestly, I still don't think there was much need to learn more about her, then. Biden ended up the nominee and I voted for him even though I was quite a bit less excited about him than about any of the other faces on the screens, including Harris.
Biden outperformed my expectations, despite also doing some stuff that makes me want to cry.
I'm having to learn more about Harris now, and I now think she will make a much more interesting president (to me) than anyone In my lifetime. That's a really fucking low bar, but I find I'm actually getting excited about her candidacy. Weird.
She'll disappoint me many times, as Biden has, but (ojalá) not nearly as much as Obama did; and she probably won't horrify me on a weekly (Bush) or hourly (Trump) basis. All in all: Go Harris.
I was obviously going to vote for her, even if she was an actual lizard person, given the alternative. Now, however, I'm thinking I might even vote enthusiastically. It's been a while since I did that.
