Seen in Brooklyn Heights on April 6, 2025, an Amazon e-cargo "bike" (I dispute "bike" but setting that aside). I used these photos to illustrate an article. Setting aside the question of whether something with four wheels can be a bike, I like the form-factor and it is fun to watch them chug along in Brooklyn.

Many people enjoy going to the beach in the summer. But what if I told you that "people" includes "garden gnomes." I saw this bikini-clad gnome in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, right before where Cobble Hill turns into Carroll Garden. Unfortunately, from her position, she is staring at the street and BQE instead of the Atlantic Ocean.

The nice thing about Cybertrucks is how they just blend right in with everything around them. Pictured here is a Cybertruck in front of the Bossert Hotel in Brooklyn Heights. The Bossert Hotel is no longer a "hotel" -- it was once a galmorous hotel in the 1940 and 50s. It was owned by the Jehovah's Witnesses for a while before they left Brooklyn Heights (well-maintained). They left. It has gone through multiple owners since and is dragging the area down. The only residents live under the shed, which I now only view from across the street.

I was walking through Grand Army Plaza back in August 2023 when someone handed me a box of water. I drank the boxed water. It was fine water. Good enough to make me buy boxed water? No. But I digress. The box was very verbose. On the side the box promises that the company will plant two trees if you post a photo of the box with #betterplanet. Note the box does not say WHERE you have to post the hashtag. I assume this offer is applicable to Pixelfed. I'll do a second hashtag so maybe we get four trees.

Side of a BOXED WATER IS BETTER CARTON. The carton is white with black text. The text is organized under three headings. First, SUSTAINABLE touts that the carton is made from 92% renewable materials and the cap is plant-based. PURE touts that the water underwent an 8-step purification process and is pH neutral with no additives. YOU POST WE PLANT asks people to post an image of the carton with the hashtag #betterplanet and the company would plant two trees in a National Forest. It claims they already planted 1,400,000 trees.

I was looking to buy a drink in a small produce store in Boerum Hill (Brooklyn NYC neighborhood) August 14, 2025. While looking at the options, I was surprised when I saw a "LIQUID DEATH" sticker under glass bottles of Coca Cola. I noticed that there was a drink called "Liquid Death" next to the Coke, but note the sticker is poorly placed. From this, I learned what Liquid Death is. (Note: I ended up buying a diet peach Snapple for $1.50. I wish the Snapple came in a glass bottle like the Coke. Glass bottle Snapple tastes better than plastic.)

Jim Walden is an independent candidate for Mayor of New York City. He has roughly the same chance of being elected as I do. But prospects of victory aside, I came across his campaign car, it appears to be a MINI Cooper, parked in Brooklyn Heights (where Mr. Walden reportedly lives) on Hicks Street between Montague and Clark. It was the first time I had seen a campaign car in person since stumbling upon Jimmy McMillan's campaign van in Flatbush, Brooklyn, in 2011, so I had to turn it into an article. (Do note the *interesting* license plate in the second photo.)

I was playing around with the ANeko Reborn app on my GrapheneOS-powered Google Pixel 6a for a quick review. As the name suggests, the app adds a cat to your display. I decided to try it with the Skitty skin (Skitty is a generation 3 Pokémon). I needed screenshots so I decided to unleash Skitty on my feed reader (Miniflux, PWA version). Here, you see Skitty running on the Semafor Gulf newsletter (in my feed reader thanks to Kill the Newsletter) in Miniflux. It appears that Skitty has just entered Egypt after leaving Saudi Arabia. I submit for the record that I did not note where Skitty was on the map until I looked at the screenshot on my computer.

On March 12, 2025, I came across a discarded Els Pet "Spaceship" litter box left out for the taking in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. It came with a note. The note indicated that the litter box "worked" but was left out due to the former owner's lack of satisfaction with the product (namely the smell). I enjoyed the review and re-published it along with my own thoughts on the litter box's website.

This is a photograph of the intersection of Myrtle and Vanderbilt Avenues in Brooklyn. This is the border of two neighborhoods: Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. There is not too much to say about it other than (1) I took it on May 4, 2025; (2) Exciting photo for Subway fans; and (3) You can see the tallest (and, some say, most ominous) building in Brooklyn in the background. I did however use this photo for an article featuring a different stretch of Vanderbilt Avenue (that is why I took it), so I figured why not share a bigger version on Pixelfed.

I took these two photos at 7:34 and 7:36 PM on May 4, 2025 from the Fruit Street Sitting Area in Brooklyn Heights (NYC). This is between the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and the long hill leading down to DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park. I first saw a BLOB DYLAN tag in Bushwick, Brooklyn, in January 2021. That launched me on a journey toward becoming one of the internet's leading BLOB DYLAN scholars (or so I tell myself). Despite my research on the matter of BLOB, I never saw a BLOB DYLAN tag in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, which is one of his stomping grounds (or so I hear). However, that all changed on the afternoon of May 4, 2025. I present to you a BLOB DYLAN tag seen on Roebling Street.

I was walking in the Brooklyn NYC neighborhood of Carroll Gardens on January 11, 2025. Something from across the street caught my attention. It is not uncommon to see free stuff left out for the taking on sidewalks in Brooklyn, New York. For example, I came across enough desks over the summer to write a whole article. What is admittedly uncommon however is to come across a "free hardly used" toilet. At least whoever left it took the time to wash it and load it onto an also-free dolly for convenience.
