The #Midlothian mining song by The Easy Club -- my grandfather worked at the lady victoria mine in #Newtongrange.

Rod Patterson was a great Scottish folk singer. #folkmusic youtu.be/Tr6ieIMtRvA?si=2yqUh0

Partially defrosted Pentlands seen from the top of Newtongrange #photography #pentlands #midlothian #newtongrange #landscape
Rows of red brick terraced houses with slate roofs and a church can be seen in the foreground, followed by bands of forest, new builds and other houses before reaching the foothills of the Pentlands hills which have patches of frost covered fields, dark forest and cliffs but still capped by snow and ice which fades into hazy white clouds and a pale blue sky.

Winter sunrise, looking towards the Pentland Hills from a vennel in Newtongrange #photography #midlothian #newtongrange
Looking downhill along a lane behind a street of frost covered single story terraced houses towards a range of white snow covered hills in the distance. There are several telephone poles along the lane with black wires leading to the houses. The sky has a slight gradient from peach through pink to lilac where it meets the hills.

The National Mining Museum Scotland at Newtongrange, three miles south of the Edinburgh bypass. Located in the buildings of the old Lady Victoria Colliery, it provides an amazing insight into an industry once vital to Scotland and now gone. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/dal

The National Mining Museum Scotland at Newtongrange. The image shows a view across a road with a car park on the right. A range of large brick colliery buildings is topped off by the winding gear supported on a black metal structure just to the left of the centre of the frame, while a tall brick chimney is on the right of the frame, above the housing for a conveyor system. The sky is almost completely blue.

My finished #etching of the winding gear of the former Lady Victoria Colliery at #Newtongrange (where I live) - now the #NationalMiningMuseumScotland. I used sugar lift for the winding gear and spitbite for the Pentland Hills in the background.

210x300mm brass plate etching.
