Almost home (at least for two days, because GPN :yayblob:), so this concludes this #travel thread.
The SJ Berlin-Stockholm #NightTrain is quite comfortable, I had berths in 6-couchette compartments, the “neighbours” made for pleasant conversation in the evening. Though some
hefty delays on both legs.
#Stockholm was very nice (and I only saw a little), the weather was excellent.

There are two pieces of luggage, a gray backpack, which is attached to a large dark blue trolley suitcase. There are a few stickers on the suitcase, like a “trans rights or riot nights” flag or a “please do not the cat” meme.

While I haven't been flying for some years now and have used other means to travel, I recently took a night train for the first time since I was young. Although people were a bit loud on the way to Czechia, the way back was actually really comfortable and definitely made me want to go on more trips like this.

Sometimes trains are discarded as an option because you would have to change more, but only one change took me from my city to Prague and another train to my final destination of Brno. If I still flew that would have been at least 5 changes... And in terms of time it was also much more efficient. While other destinations will probably a bit trickier, I will definitely be checking out more night trains! As I'm not too far from the German border I'm thinking that might open up some options...

There’s a new night train company in Europe: Nox.

They’re promising modern single and double bedrooms for €100 and €180 on multiple routes, starting in 2027.

If they can achieve that, I’m in.

Good article from @jon in the Guardian today about the failed promise of the night train. Seems daft that we have them within the UK but not UK<->EU (yes there are operational difficulties but I'm sure they *could* be overcome if politicians actually did something). I'd love a direct night train from Manchester to Paris for example - it takes over 5 hours anyway on normal trains (2h Man -> Lon, 1h wait, 2h Lon -> Par).
