This morning I quickly developed a film, last week I found some film I didn’t realise I had (because it was in a bag full of reusable 135 film canisters and other miscellaneous related crap, I thought they were all empty) and had no idea what it was other than that I put it in an old Agfapan 100 canister so it’s probably like that or I wouldn’t have done that

I dug out another bag over the weekend containing the jugs dev tank spirals etc and some developer and fix and a concertina tank full of fix – all of which I haven’t touched in probably about ten years

The dev is a modern Rodinal alternative, so will last forever, and I made it up as 1+25, for a 135 plastic spiral, and gave it 8 mins + at what somehow turned out to be pretty much spot on 20°C (it’s usually more and I can’t get it down)

I used the fix in the concertina tank but ditched it afterwards, I’m assuming it’s either spent already or is now that I’ve used it again, it was in the tank from last time it was used and I don’t know how many times that was (probably once, but still, a decade ago) so maybe this fix will turn the film brown in time – I gave it a very good thorough wash between dev and fix, and also a very good thorough wash after fix, including a dash of photoflo wetting agent, and now it’s on the clips hanging up drying

This confirms a couple of things – I had (and probably still have) a bulk roll of Jessops Pan 100 in one of my two bulk loaders (the other has HP5 but has an amount of base fog), the other thing is that despite my Nikon F4 ejaculating a whole shutter blade the other month when I tried it after finding the F4 again after all these years, the shutter seems to do the job even minus that broken-off blade, and the metering/exposure is okay, and it all works

…which is nice

Recently purchased a #NikonF4, and what's the best way to test it? Take some pics of other cameras, of course.

This means that my quest to get an example of each 1-digit Nikon Fs is 50 % complete!

✅ All speeds work.
✅ Light meter works.
✅ Hot shoe and PC-sync for flash work.
✅ LCDs are clear (mostly).
✅ A fvcking joy to use.
❌ Manual focus for a cheeky self-portrait is still tricky. Oh well!

Sometimes the universe delivers a Skydiggers album cover.

Same roll of Ilford PanF50+ as before but this was exposed only 9 days before processing.

A small barn in an early winter field has seen better days as it gradually succumbs to wind, weather, and neglect.

Courtyard construction.

So, I have learned that Ilford PanF50+ really needs to be processed within a couple weeks of exposure. Huh.

A black and white fish-eye lens photograph of a courtyard under construction. Each part of the courtyard is at a different stage of having the membrane removed and replaced, lending a sense of chaos to the scene. Pigeon netting forms a grid in front of us.

Aftermath: I know it’s not surprising with a storm like that and I’m definitely not alone but it does feel like flooding is following the studio. Jeez, it’s not even set up!

Looking out over Humber Bay from the decaying wharf on the north side of the Western Gap. A low angle photograph with the clouds reflecting in the puddles on the uneven and crumbling concrete. Three people are standing near the end of the wharf and the bushes growing along the fence to the right are a strange, surreal green due to the aged film stock.

Evening buzz.

Funnily, the midges were invisible to my eye at the time but the fast shutter caught them.

A rich pink flower amid verdant leaves grows against a metal fence. Midges can be seen silhouetted against the bright background of the fence.
