"In Iran, the Islamic Republic’s judiciary has sentenced two women journalists to five years in prison each for their coverage of the September 2022 death of Mahsa Amini while in custody.
Asghar Jahangir, the spokesperson for Iran’s judiciary, announced the issuance of the five-year prison sentences for Elahe Mohammadi and Niloofar Hamedi, two journalists arrested following Amini’s death."

"Hamedi e Mohammadi erano state inizialmente accusate di “collusione e associazione contro la sicurezza nazionale” e “attività di propaganda contro il regime” e condannate rispettivamente a 13 e 12 anni.
A gennaio sono state rilasciate dalla prigione dopo 17 mesi di detenzione e le loro condanne sono state ridotte a 5 anni ciascuna dopo che un tribunale li ha assolti da ulteriori accuse di "collaborazione con gli Stati Uniti"."

In Iran, the Pulitzer Prize is given as a prison sentence!
On October 22, in an #Iranian Revolutionary court, two female journalists were sentenced to prison for their reporting on the tragic death #MahsaAmini. #NiloofarHamedi, 31, received a seven-year prison sentence, while #ElahahMohammadi, 36, was sentenced to six years for charges of “collaborating with the hostile U.S. government.”
