@leffe @CppGuy @Jessica I can totally understand such solutions:
Having handled #ex / #ATEX-certified & #rugged #PTT-Radios and -Phones that basically only have charging docks and a programming port behind the toolfree-swappable, screwed-on battery at the rear, the appeal is obvious in that these devices can be rugged as a #Nokia3301 and often need to as sometimes workers' safety if not survival depends on them to properly sent out alerts if they have an accident.
- OFC beyond the battery being swappable, these didn't offer any repariability aside from the manufacturer's service center for said compliance reasons, but it's not as if these were ever sold to the average consumer and that places that used them didn't have spare devices and batteries onsite in case someone had issues with their handset.
So unless it's like a high-security device that has to withstand being thrown into a deep thank of gasoline and kept on-person diving, there's rarely a need to seal things up (okay, with medical devices one may need that too, but again: edgecases!)
