Me autorrespondo, para aclararme.

Sí, #NomadBSD :nomadbsd: permite la instalación del #SistemaOperativo en una unidad de almacenamiento local (disco rígido mecánico tradicional o unidad de estado sólido), pero es que ni siquiera destacan esto en el sitio web. Y el hecho de que su imagen la distribuyan en IMG y no en #ISO, creo que le resta la posibilidad de popularizar NomadBSD.

Como punto a favor, NomadBSD es la variante de #FreeBSD más cercana al usuario doméstico. Y está en 32 y 64 bits. 😎

Qué oportunidad se están perdiendo tanto los de #MidnightBSD como los de #NomadBSD… Qué papeloneros… :skype_facepalm:

Octubre está a la vuelta de la esquina, y estos perejiles pretenden que un usuario hogareño instale un sistema operativo «artesanalmente» vía línea de comando o sin imagen ISO siquiera.

Yep, I get it. #NomadBSD is definitely a recommendation for newbies who just want to give BSD a spin.

I've been very happy with #OpenBSD on my writing machine for over a year now.

I'd like to try #FreeBSD on my home desktop again sometime. The only reason I prefer OpenBSD to it is that it tends to do S3 suspend/resume faster. Oh, and it has X11 working out of the box after install. ;)

I'm guessing you're taking about #FreeBSD.

Both #NetBSD and #OpenBSD give you a working #X11 immediately after install.

#NomadBSD even gives you #xfce

#Poll: are you "dog-fooding" #BSD?

Unlike previous polls (:BlobCatBlush:) I have tried really hard to make sure the options make sense. Select the lowest item in the list that is true for you:

Of the ten options, the first four are for those that don't use BSD regularly (let's say at least once per week).
The fifth option ("VPN/server") is for someone who uses BSD on a server they manage, but don't have physical access to.
The sixth ("at work") through eighth ("secondary laptop/desktop") is for those who regularly use some variant of BSD, but not as a primary daily driver.
The ninth and tenth options are for "dog-fooding"

Oh, right, and I'm sorry, but it really must need be said: MacOS, iOS, and other Apple products do not count. Sorry again. I will count any FOSS BSD-like OSes like #OpenIndiana, though.
I will also count retro commercial Unixes, if you're actually daily-driving them. ;)

@chris I recommend you try #GhostBSD and/or #NomadBSD. You can try it as a live CD. If you like it, it is possible to install it on disk. They offer a turnkey desktop experience.
GhostBSD can also download and install drivers from the internet if you have an Nvidia GPU.

Using #NomadBSD to watch #youtube I get the content adfree, that's *very* nice.

Finally, #ProxMox #monitoring install with #Grafana & #InfluxDB from the Couch, the lazy way with Coffee & Cookies hehe..

#FreeBSD on ProxMox works perfectly fine. Connected #Thunderbird to my #NextCloud Instance to sync Cal. & Contacts.

So, FreeBSD is prepared as a daily driver now, living in a VM on ProxMox, #Cluster, which I can access via #TailsScale from everywhere.

Next: #headscale #NomadBSD on my Lenovo T520 to connect to FreeBSD on my Homelab.

I would begin trying #NomadBSD so you can spot out all the hardware incompatibilities... 👍

And don't forget #GhostBSD if you want a friendly installstion, otherwise I recommend pure #FreeBSD.
