I am quite pleased with this photo of a #Kestrel too.

Bike pump fixed ✅
Old bike, “Freyfaxi” last used by a neighbour’s son to get to work during lockdown recommissioned ✅
Preferred human’s bike diagnosed as needing new chain and front wheel truing ❌
Robin fancies the look of my old bike ✅

Next up: checking over my current bike ❔

Bonus points if you can say why I called my old bike Freyfaxi.

This is a bad decision, and against the advice of the Planning Inspectorate (yes, the PI is occasionally right, hard though that may be to believe at times). There is no need for it whatsoever, and a very pressing need not to add to our emissions. Crisis, what crisis?

I think the #SundaySwan is sulking because it is #NotADuck

#MuteSwan #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2025

A swan standing on one leg with its head hidden under one wing. It looks sulky.
It is on a muddy island with a couple of other birds. It is not an exciting photo.

This #WeekendWaterbird is a #GreylagGoose - sorry if you were expecting a #SundaySwan or anything...also that it is #NotADuck

#BirdsSeenIn2024 #Greylag #Goose

A hazy photograph of a grey goose with an orange bill swimming in front of a scrubby shoreline.

In a bit of a twist, today we have a #SundayStonechat, which is obviously #NotADuck. It might be spying for them though.

#BirdsSeenIn2024 #Birding #Stonechat #Birdstodon #BirdsOfMastodon

On a twiggy branch with several wiglets, a stonechat perches. It has a round, reddish body and a black-looking head that's separated by a white clerical collar, and brown wings folded by its sides. The camera was very zoomed in to get this close, and the bird still looks a bit like it might fly off at any moment.

The #WednesdayWaterbird is a #BrentGoose - it is #NotADuck and I think it might have lost a contact lens?
#BirdsSeenIn2024 #Birding #RSPBTitchwell #Goose

A Brent goose walking along wet sand on a beach, with waves crashing in the background. The goose is bent over looking at the ground as it is feeding. It has a black head and neck with a small white collar, and dark grey body.

Dreading going back to work tomorrow? So's this #Peewit... though if that's you, at least you're lucky to have had some time off, and have a job.
For the avoidance of doubt, a #lapwing is #NotADuck

This Avocet is not a Sunday Swan, it is a #WeekendWader (also #NotADuck)

#WeekendWaterbird #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2024 #RSPBTitchwell

A bright white avocet picking its way along the edge of the water in a muddy tidal scrape. It is bent over ready to poke its bill into the mud, its black cap and wing markings contrasting with the rest of its feathers and the grey-brown of the background.

This is the #SaurdaySeagull. It is #NotADuck.

I was actually taking a picture of the fishing boat and didn't even see the #Seagull when taking the photo. I remain bad at gulls, so will say that it is a "gull sp." in the hope someone will think I know what I'm talking about. Could be a herring gull, maybe?

#Gull #GullSp #DuckOfTheDay #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2024

A small fishing boat with booms out on either side on a grey sea with a hazy grey sky, and a gull flying across in front of it. it has pale grey wings with black tips (maybe a hint of white in them), and a white-looking body and tail.

The #WednesdayWaterbird is a #HerringGull - I hope it is having a good day today. Also #NotADuck

#Gull #Seagull #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2024

A big seagull standing on a muddy beach in front of a muddier bank with patchy grass. The bird is in profile, and upright. It has black wingtips with lots of white on, and grey wings. The white head is mottled by flecks of brown, and the downturned yellow bill has a red spot on the lower mandible. Its legs are flesh-coloured and vaguely human-looking, which I now realise is a bit disturbing.

Merry Christmas everyone - here, have a stereotypically featured Christmas bird. It is #NotADuck

#Ruddock #Robin #EuropeanRobin #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2024

A photo of a European Robin standing on the end upright of a bench. It is facing to the left and basically looks like any other Christmas robin photo, except that it isn't standing on the handle of a garden spade.

Fancypants new camera. It does a lot of zoom - the #Starlings and #CollaredDove are in both photos!

They are #NotDucks.

#NotADuck #UrbanBirding #LowCarbonBirding #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2024

A view across the street showing a white painted late Victorian semi detached house with a tall red brick chimney stack with a slight blur to the sideA crisp zoomed in image of the “blur”, a TV aerial a street further away with four glossy starlings and a collared dove perched on it.

These #WeekendWaterbirds are #SundaySwans and yet again hiding their heads in shame for being #NotADuck - so near and yet so far!

#DuckOfTheDay #MuteSwan #Swan
#LowCarbonBirding #UrbanBirding #Birding #BirdsSeenIn2024

Next to the paved edge of a pond, one snowy white adult mute swan and two younger ones still moulting through from dirty brown to proper white plumage, are lined up with their heads under water in order to feed.
