A video by Veritasium that gives a relatively low level introduction to the p-adic number system. It was 'low' enough that I understood most of it. 🙂 It also gives me a better appreciation of the @gregeganSF story, "3-adica".

@elysdir Thinking about it, the #Kaktovik numerals remind me very much of the #Maya numerals
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_numerals which also use a combination of base 5 and base 20. Not surprisingly the two may be culturally related, given the flow of people and information across the American continent.

Are there existing single-digit number symbols in some language/script system in Unicode for the numbers from 0 … 15 ? Would be kinda fun to have a different set of letters for hex editors than 0…9 and A…F. #unicode #numberBases #numberSystems #linguistics
