Ich hab als Mitglied des SUMA e.V. seit heute die Möglichkeit, die Alpha-Version der kommenden Suchmaschine #Nolm zu testen. Sie basiert auf dem #OWI (#OpenWebIndex), ich bin ziemlich gehypt.

Es gab da offenbar einen Versuch, via https://www.openpetition.de/petition/online/schluss-mit-app-meldungen-gegen-autofahrer-fuer-ein-faires-miteinander-in-muenchen die Bearbeitung von via weg.li eingerichten OWi-Anzeigen unterbinden zu wollen, »Für ein faires, nachbarschaftliches und respektvolles Miteinander in unserer Stadt!«
Fair wäre es doch wohl eher, nicht StVO-widrig zu parken, so dass Bußgelder aufgrund von OWi-Anzeigen nicht möglich werden?

Interessant ist, es scheint nochmal ein paralleler "europäischer Index" zu dem OWI (Open Web Index; https://openwebindex.eu) zu sein. Schade eigentlich, dass da keine Synergieeffekte genutzt wurden (oder?)

Our team presented a variety of talks & sessions, incl. a short portrayal of the #OWI + its relevance for #EuropeanWebSovereignty.
“Producing knowledge and making it accessible is the basis for free democratic societies. This is what we need to fight for!” stated Alexandra Geese in her policy perspective.

👉 Throwback to ISC High Performance 2025
In June, a group from our OpenWebSearch.eu tech team attended the International Super Computing conference #ISC2025 in Hamburg to share about the recently launched Open Web Index #OWI and its significance re European Web Sovereignty.
#ISC2025 marked the 40th anniversary of the world’s leading forum for advancing the application of high-performance computing in academia, government, and the private sector.

Auch das dürfte ein Thema sein bei der #ISC25 : die digitale Souveränität Europas angesichts der Lage in den #usa . Der offene Webindex #owi den @openwebsearcheu geschaffen hat und der seit 6. Juni eingesetzt wird, ist ein Schritt. Wie das LRZ hat das @CERN an dem Werk, die Grundlage für neue Suchdienste mitgearbeitet. Es beschreibt, was der OWI kann. Hm das Claimen und Anmelden scheint bei der OWI-Beta (OpenWebIndex) https://openwebindex.eu noch nicht zu gehen.
The Open Web Index #OWI is a European open source web index pilot that is currently in Beta testing phase. The idea: Collaborative sovereign access to the internet for European organisations and civil society
@pteryx I should also mention that #OWI is on #Fedi (because of course it is) @openwebsearcheu
@pteryx According to the #Wired article [1], companies that have signed long-term deals with Microsoft will maintain access for the time being: "the largest customers of the #Bing APIs will retain their access after August 11, while smaller developers that were less profitable for Microsoft to support are being cut off".
#DuckDuckGo is cited as one of the companies who will retain access. #Ecosia plans to switch to #OWI.
#Mojeek and #Brave have their own indexes.
