Filling most of the image is an expanse of sea water, with small ripples breaking the surface. From the centre and to the left is a small, flat bottomed work boat, about four metres long, with a light grey hull and surrounded by a string of fenders lashed to the side horizontally. The boat covers about half the width of the image and is moving from left to right. In the craft is a large rectangular metal skip, (dumpster) that occupies about two-thirds of the hull. Sitting in the stern is a young man of around twenty year old who has his left hand on the tiller. He has neat dark hair, wayfarer sunglasses, white t-shirt and dark trousers. He is looking at the camera. On his left is a female of the same age, with long blonde hair, looking down to her right with a slightly worried expression on her face.
The location is Avalon Bay, Santa Catalina, California. The boat is a garbage scow, as in, collects rubbish from yachts moored in Avalon Harbour.
