This color linen-era postcard depicts the Administration Building at the Municipal Airport in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The structure is a two-story red brick terminal with a flat roofline and a centrally positioned air traffic control tower rising above the main block. The tower features a glass-enclosed cab with perimeter railing and rooftop antenna equipment, reflecting mid-20th-century airport design. Horizontal bands of multi-pane windows extend across the façade, providing natural light to administrative and passenger areas.

The building’s main entrance is centered beneath a projecting canopy supported by slender columns. The words “New Bedford Municipal Airport” are visible on the upper left façade. The airport, now known as New Bedford Regional Airport, began operations in 1940 and served as a civil and military facility during World War II. During the postwar period it supported general aviation and regional commercial service.

The postcard’s printing style, color saturation, and textured surface are consistent with linen-finish postcards commonly produced in the 1940s and early 1950s. A publisher number “50609” appears in the lower right corner of the card front.

Its dark, the sun has just set. You see a dark silhouette of a propeller plane against the last bits of blue light and clouds. At the very bottom. a twinkling of city lights dots the bottom of the postcard under the airplane.

This color postcard shows Kaanapali Airport on Maui, Hawaii, in the mid-1960s. In the foreground is a small airport terminal building with a low, rectangular form and a steeply pitched, shingle-covered roof section that gives it a pavilion-like appearance. Two tall palm trees stand directly in front of the terminal, emphasizing the tropical setting. A chain-link fence runs along the edge of the apron area. To the right, a small twin-engine propeller aircraft is parked on the tarmac facing toward the viewer, with its nose and cockpit clearly visible. Additional airport vehicles and low structures are visible near the terminal. In the background, low mountains rise under a clear blue sky, reinforcing the island landscape and the modest scale of this regional airport.
