The landscape of performance enhancement in competitive sports is rapidly evolving, with
signiﬁcant advancements in both doping methods and detection technologies creating a
complex arms race between athletes seeking advantages and anti-doping authorities. This
research examines emerging trends in performance enhancement substances and meth-
ods, alongside cutting-edge detection technologies being developed to maintain sports
integrity. Key ﬁndings suggest that while novel enhancement methods like gene doping
and advanced pharmaceutical agents are becoming increasingly sophisticated, detection
capabilities are similarly advancing through quantum sensing, artiﬁcial intelligence ap-
plications, and omics-based approaches. The research highlights how this technological
battle is reshaping competitive sports, with implications for athlete health, regulatory
frameworks, and the fundamental nature of athletic competition. The study concludes
that eﬀective responses to this evolving landscape will require sustained research invest-
ment, adaptive regulatory frameworks, sophisticated educational programs, and enhanced
international coordination among anti-doping stakeholders.
