Heute aus reiner Langeweile das OpenXCOM auf Linux "installiert" und eingestellt.
Hatte das bereits eine Weile aber hatte kein Erfolg es zum laufen zu bekomen, heute mal die Zeit genutzt mich damit zu beschäftigen und das mit Erfolg 🙂 .

Heute im laufe des Tages (zwischendurch) die beiden aktuellen Versionen von OpenXCOM (normal & extended) auf meinen Retro Spiele Compi installiert. Die werden am Donnerstag Abend genauer begutachtet und gespielt bzw. angespielt 😃.

I wonder if OpenXCOM or UFO:Alien Invasion would be more moddable into an entirely original game project without altering the engine? 🤔 or whether it'd just make more sense to start from scratch with something like that

The style and purpose haven't changed, and it's good that there are way more games now, but it's also harder to find things. Maybe better searching and filtering are needed?
Of these original 7 games, 5 are still going strong (#OpenTTD, #CorsixTH, #fheroes2, #VCMI, #OpenXCOM) which is incredible.

Yeah there's a Vita port but I'm not going to buy a Vita only for X-Com (I might end up buying a cheap second hand Vita only for X-Com...)

It also nurtures a great modding community with a lot of original ideas, it's worth a try, if you want a game to play for... years.
