Also morgen Downgrade.

Honestly, which #OrcaSlicer to install and use on Arch #Linux?

Orca Slicer is a fork of Bambu Studio. It was previously known as BambuStudio-SoftFever

Or perhaps I should use their
#AppImage/#Flatpak (manual, since it isn't yet on #Flathub) from their GH repo instead?

To be clear (hah) I don’t think this print is totally successful, but most of the print artifacts can be resolved. The major challenge is that Orca Slicer isn’t respecting where I painted the seams. I’ve already looked at the Orca slicer source and have an idea for a modifier type that would aim the seams towards a specified XYZ point. Even cooler would be a modifier that would use distance from geometry to place the seams.. #orcaslicer

Fun side quest 3d print between sessions of toiling in the mine. My partner modeled this happy jack-o’-lantern for a tutorial. I’m working on a (different) transparent print, so I’m testing some theories with this one.
Everything I did to make it “printable” was done using Blender geometry nodes + simple cylinders and cubes.
Transparent PETG is advance mode 3d printing, you can’t hide anything.

Got alot of flies going around, and a family member broke the only fly swatter. I figured, instead of wasting money on chinese made tariffed lanfill-fodder I'd make my own with a 3D printer. WIP right now, as it will definitely take some time to print, but I'm very happy with the design. Usually I don't make practical prints so pretty, but I thought I'd give Blender's celtic links a try. did not disappoint.

3D printer companies must rethink proprietary slicers! 🖨️ OrcaSlicer is leading the charge for open-source solutions, but fragmentation is holding back the industry. Let’s embrace collaboration for a better user experience.

What TF is wrong with my settings between OrcaSlicer snd CuraSlicer?!? This is the exact same file. The exact same temperatures, the same print speeds for every individual setting… so why on earth is the inner wall setting almost double the outer wall setting?! I even sped up the inner wall time and it didn’t change the inner wall speed at all. Something is wrong with my settings, probably with the inner wall, but idk where to look.

WIP test prints. Exploring “fuzzy skin” options in Orca slicer. Printed in PETG. Each half cube was printed with a different type of surface noise pattern. I have a plan to alter the triangle patterns in the top surface. Next step is to pick my favorite from these and print the full sized cubes at the same scale as the purple geode crystals. Progress! #3dprinting #orcaslicer #makingthings #alien

I'm not a serious #3DPrinter but I'm #OrcaSlicer-curious. Any users out there? Coming from #PrusaSlicer on Linux with a Creality Ender 3 V2.

Are you a #PrusaSlicer or #BambuStudio user? Would you like to be able to open files directly from hosting sites that aren't owned by the same company, like in #OrcaSlicer?

It's trivial to fix, and while they may not want to for their own commercial reasons, at least we can ask!

I kept Bambu Studio around while I was trying out Orca Slicer but finally just uninstalled it. Sorry, Bambu — still don't trust you. Also, Orca is just better now.

So that's a complete and total removal of all Bambu software/services from my Bambu printer. No longer using Studio or Handy. No cloud — printer is in offline mode (and blocked from the internet), with print monitoring via Home Assistant and/or the 3rd-party Bambu Connect app.

I'm having a fight with #orcaslicer

This design needs to be print face down but is fluted.

It will finish successfully but there is a problem with the first layer over the flutes. Orca tries print this layer as a giant bridge/overhang, but some of the flutes are in the same direction of the bridge (or concentric if I enable "make overhangs printable"). When this happens the layer is unsupported and sags.

What I need is that layer to be 45° to the outer perimeter. How though?

I cannot find any prebuilt aarch64 versions of #OrcaSlicer out there for #AsahiLinux but it will build.

You'll need to create an fedora-asahi-remix file in linux.d that looks like this one: https://github.com/amdavidson/OrcaSlicer/blob/asahi/linux.d/fedora-asahi-remix

Then you can run the recommended sudo ./BuildLinux.sh -u && ./BuildLinux.sh -dsi

I didn't have enough memory on my system to satisfy (>10gb free) it so I had to build single threaded ( -1 ) and edit BuildLinux.sh to look for less memory.

My Bambu Network Plugin doesn't work for my P1S, but it seems to work fine otherwise.

Good luck!

Is there a setting to change the orientation of bridges around a circle?

These bridges are only 2m, if they were done radially....

Ugh I’m so frustrated. I have been using Ultimaker Cura as my slicer since I started #3DPrinting and I like the results. I tried switching to #OrcaSlicer and no matter what I do or adjust, nothing prints properly. The print time is almost double what Cura quotes and the print almost never sticks to the plate. Today it did stick to the plate but these are the results. This is SIX HOURS of printing. What am I doing wrong?

@astraluma I use #syncthing to keep the configs in sync for #cura, #prusaslicer, and #orcaslicer. I have a NAS as central storage, and each computer syncs with it. I have a dual boot laptop and can sync the config under both Linux and Windows, as well as with the Linux mini-pc where I do most of my work with the printers. I use #octoprint to manage the printers, so I can send a print job from any slicer on any computer.

I pushed an initial failing stab at an #OpenBSD #OrcaSlicer port to openbsd-wip. If someone more familiar with Boost and wx and c++ and stuff wanted to try it and tell me why it's failing to initialize.
