The #autumn #allotment looking a bit bedraggled. Yet more apples to collect... #AllotmentGardening #OrganicGardening #orchard

An allotment garden on a chilly October afternoon. It's looking a bit rough round the edges but still lush and colourful. A gravel and brick path leads to a polytunnel. Red apples hang from a tree to the left and the grass is dotted with more.

@KeithWM ☺️ The birds are happy with my fig tree, too!

Photograph of a fig on a fig branch, with a jagged hole in the fig likely created by a bird.

Gardening question:

I have an olaliberry that has outgrown its large pot — because of course blackberries send canes out wildly — am wondering where to transplant it. I have a bed with tomatoes that I’ll soon clean out. Could the olaliberry go there? Would I need to amend the soil? Thanks!

Also: East Bay Area, CA and full sun with well-draining soil.

I’ve been composting a dead zone in my yard that once was a waste pile going back decades. Spark plugs and batteries, etc. I’ve pulled out all sorts of nasty stuff.

We have a lovely compost tumbler and put all of our organic waste into it. It’s transformed our yard.

Last November this was a little 4-foot 3-leaved pup.

It might be october but most of my Jonagold apples are still on the tree. They get sweeter and sweeter the longer they ripe!

The tomatos are still going strong to but the first spots of the usual phytophthora are apearing on the stems.
It's going to be tomato soup this sunday.

Enjoy your weekend!

It's "just" a clematis left to grow in a bush. Not the nicest sight maybe, yet it provides spectacular white flowering first thing in Spring and beautiful sturdy shelter for our tiny friends year round.

The field peas have completely taken over this garden bed so you can't even see the fence they're growing on. You also can't see that one side of the fence is propped up with a stout bamboo pole because the weight of the plants broke one of the fence posts. Yes, I'm clearing large amounts of freezer space for the peas we'll be picking very soon.

View from above of a square garden bed whose surrounding fence is so completely covered with field pea vines that it looks like a thick hedge. There is almost no empty space in the center of the bed. The bed is surrounded by green grass.

Moony wonders what my plan is for almost 7 pounds of tomatoes.
I am asking myself the same question.

A black cat with green eyes sits on a bench by a window. In front of her is placed a large colander of orange and red tomatoes on a wooden dining room table.
