Vendredi 14 mars 2025, @gnome a fait l’objet d’une campagne de spam sur un de ses canaux de discussion publics.
Ce projet a été visé car il défend des valeurs d’inclusions et œuvre activement à les mettre en place.
Du contenu pédocriminel, des photos d’animaux torturés et des messages transmisogynes ont été envoyés en masse par des comptes reprenant le nom d’un #fasciste pro-trump bien connu des communautés du logiciel libre. Au cœur de cette attaque, des messages violents qui essentialisent les femmes trans à des corps mutilés.
Pourquoi le projet GNOME a été visé ? Parce que ce dernier défend des valeurs d’inclusions et œuvre activement à les mettre en place depuis longtemps, via son code de conduite et son implication dans des programmes comme #Outreachy.
De très nombreux·euses membres de la communauté #GNOME et au delà ont été personnellement destinataires de ces messages les exposant à des contenus violents et criminels, y compris des membres de #SolidairesInformatique.
Ces canaux de conversation sont un outil primordial aux travailleurs du projet et aux membres de sa communauté. Leur objectif est non seulement de blesser les personnes les plus minorisé·es de la communauté, mais de les isoler et de les exclure des projets du #logiciellibre. Ce n’est pas aux personnes minorisé·es de quitter ces espaces mais bel et bien aux militants d’ #extrêmedroite.
Il est à noter le manque d’outils de modération intégré au cœur du système de messagerie utilisé et la défaillance des outils anti-spam tiers mis en place, nous ne devons plus accepter que des tech-bros développent des outils de communication sans prendre en compte les moyens de modération avancés constamment réclamés par les communautés les plus minorisées.
Mais si les outils de modération ont été défaillants, n’oublions pas que le cœur du problème, ce sont les systèmes de domination, le #racisme, la transphobie, la #misogynie et le #validisme qui, cristallisés dans le fascisme, sont au cœur de cette attaque.
