Twenty years ago, we went through a change in which all TVs used for over-the-air reception became obsolete.
The National Association of Broadcasters wants to do it again, to provide superior picture quality, immersive audio, interactive features, etc.
The new system is not backwards compatible to current TVs without a converter box (unless you have already upgraded), like 20 years ago.
The closest stations to me that have already converted are not within reception range, even with a good outdoor antenna.

Well, this weekend, I got the big #Amber #update button appearing on my #Id3 #EV infotainment system. This was the first big #OverTheAir install that I received. Seriously, what could go wrong 🤪. It was supposedly 52 minutes long (don't know how long it actually took as I went into the house).
An hour(ish) later I sat in the car & got a Fault: Light failure 😱. Started the car and all was fine the fault light disappeared.
All OK with the car. Can't believe it worked.
I was reflecting this morning on the lovely buzzy, innovative London of the early '00s and excellent social gatherings at #MobileMonday #MiniBar #SwedishBeers #Tuttle #OvertheAir #BarCamp and more...was it just that moment in time, or are great gatherings of innovative folks still happening?
Content owners are being incredible dicks with ATSC 3.0's DRM. (I know, it's a shock.)
