Möbius double basket. Folded from a sheet of handmade washi. About 19cm tall. Topologically it really is a Möbius strip. The boundary is shortened, but not enough to make it a flat circle. The Sudanese Möbius strip will take a bit more work.

📷 and Art by Artist: #MelissaMeier / #MelissaMeierArt in Loc.: Switzerland 🇨🇭 2018 - Title: "Head" - #Art #Streetart #PhotoArt #Artist #Fotografie #Head #Photography #PaperSculpture #Sculpture #Surreal ➡️ #APhotoLove Website: melissameierart.com/

Photography and art. A color photo of a sculpture lying on a dark forest path. The sculpture is a large silver-colored head lying on its side. It is just a face, without hair, like a mask and looks a bit sad. The photo is very dark and some mist is rising between the trees. In the distance, a person dressed in dark clothes can be seen walking along the path.
Info: The 500-pound sculpture was made from packing paper and adhesive tape that the artist had left over when she moved to Los Angeles. It was used to protect the family property and had become superfluous. The "head" therefore stands for a new beginning. There was also a head lying next to fire during the photo session. Due to the events in Los Angeles with the terrible fire disaster in 2025, it suddenly took on a different meaning.

Need a break from current events? This is a perfect weekend to cozy up & build castles! Color them in, or leave them black & white and just build — it's relaxing fun either way. It's a great activity with kids, friends, family, or just by yourself.

In addition to the 2 different wall sets, you can also download vestibules, 3 different portico designs, modular shrubbery, and a brand new tower design — all richly detailed and beautiful whether you color them in or not. Subscribe for $2 a month or more and get access to all of them!

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're an Apple user, I strongly recommend signing up by visiting my Patreon page in a regular browser. Apple is now applying their 30% App Store fee to all new memberships purchased in the Patreon iOS app *in addition to the cost of your membership* every month. Yikes! But there's no extra charge if you sign up anywhere else. If you sign up via the Android app or if you're already a subscriber, you're good & this doesn't apply to you.

A photo of a 3D paper castle made of sections of white paper printed with stones, crenellation with a flowering vine motif, and doors, all in black ink. The castle is viewed at an angle and from slightly above. Some of the stones are colored in in shades of light yellow-beige and dark grey-brown, and the crenellation is a warm yellow. The vine pattern in the crenellation has been colored green, and the flowers are colored in a variety of shades of blue, purple, pink, and orange. The castle shape is a large rectangle, with a smaller square room extending off the front. At the front of the smaller room is a set of large blue double "wooden" doors set inside a reddish-brown stone gothic arch. On the front wall of the main castle to the left of the smaller room is another set of large double "wooden" doors, this time colored red. Around the corner at the rear of the left side wall of the castle is a third set of double "wooden" doors, colored blue again. The castle sits on a scratched wooden desk. Behind and to the left, a black scanner sits on a wooden bureau. A potted geranium with pink and white flowers is visible behind the castle. Behind and to the right of the castle is a window with another smaller geranium, and an assortment of tchotchkes in a bamboo box on the windowsill.A photo of a 3D paper castle made of sections of white paper printed with stones, crenellation, and doors in black ink, viewed from above and at an angle. The castle is a simple square shape, with a smaller square room extending off the back of the castle. There are two slightly different porticos on either side of the front wall, with crenellated tops and shrubbery between. The portico on the left has pointed gothic arches on all three sides, but no door except on the interior wall. The portico on the right has doors on all three sides, set into the same gothic arches; the one in front is folded so it stands ajar. Each stone arch contains decorative vines from top to bottom, with a tiny moon at the pinnacle: waxing crescents on the left side arches, full moons in front, and waning crescents on the right. The wooden doors inside each arch of vinework on the right side portico are shaped like a pointed gothic arch with elaborate iron hinges. The stone arches of both porticos are framed by an arch of gravelly stucco, but this area is very light on the right side portico, and much darker on the left side portico. Above this on both porticos, many small round river stones are set into the stucco, with a small inverted triangle of stone bricks at each corner. More shrubbery wraps around the left side of the castle towards a set of large plain wooden doors standing ajar inside a stone gothic arch. The castle sits on a scratched wooden desk.]

// Two paper towers, illuminated from the inside by bulbs. The lamps are in Japanese style. The left tower ends with a tall, sharp cone, the right with something rounded, similar to a penis head. The towers are connected by a two-tiered bridge. // Carlos Garaicoa, “Towers”, 2000, Japanese rice paper, metal wire, 8 light bulbs

At the front of the vestibule is a door with a pointed gothic arch, surrounded by decorative vines with a tiny sun at the top. Part of another arched wooden door is visible on the wall to the right of the vestibule. Paper shrubs stand to the left of the castle. The blurred green leaves of a geranium are visible in the top right of the photo.
