My #maracuya (#Passiflora Edulis) really managed to grow 3 fruits here in temperate Germany.
I had to take the plant indoor by now, but the fruits still ripened and taste delicious. 👍

Tangy, salty, and bursting with flavour all year long, it's easy to imagine how the #passionfruit got its name. Here at #FincaDelSoul we mostly grow the yellow form, Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa (known as #maracuyá in most of western #Amazonia), which is more suited to the ultra-tropical climate of the lowland #AmazonRainforest. Sometimes the #Passiflora vines get devoured in caterpillar season, but these are going strong!

At Finca Del Soul, we're tearing up the tools of tyranny and turning inhospitable invasives into beautiful blooming #biodiversity one plant at a time.

From cattle pasture and grass-infested coffee plantation, we re-beautify this land into a functional ecosystem with the end goal of meeting the needs of all who inhabit it. As our neighbours continue to destroy this amazing #Amazon #rainforest landscape around us, #bees #butterflies #hummingbirds and other #pollinators find refuge among the #flowers and fruits of our labour.

These flowers not only provide for the animals who are displaced by the expansion of grassland and monoculture plantations; their vibrant colours brighten our days and remind us that what we do here is making a difference, however small it may seem at times.

In an age when nature is increasingly under siege, protecting wild and free places is the ultimate form of disobedience. Cultivating beauty has become an act of protest. For us, flowers are just the beginning, a sign of what is to come: a thriving #FoodForest and a radical abundance of fruit.

Spring is such an exciting time for plant lovers! I love seeing my plants finally flourish after a dark winter. It gets so dark in Finland during winter I actually had to move the most sensitive plants from windowsill to kitchen under the sink light.

I got many plant losses last year during a thrip invasion but at this point I'm just grateful I finally got rid of them last year. I had to cut my several meters long passion fruit vine down to a stick so I'm super happy to see it flourish again.

Remember to check on your plants often and deal with bugs as early as possible. Throw away the plants that are badly infected - if you take cuttings keep them isolated and shower them frequently. I have most of my plants in water instead of soil so it's easy to give them regular showers just in case.
