“Where there is a will, there is a way. If there is a chance in a million that you can do something, anything, to keep what you want from ending, do it. Pry the door open or, if need be, wedge your foot in that door and keep it open.”
― Pauline Kael https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Kael
Pauline Kael, one of the brilliant critics featured in the special books edition of GROSS. She was a bit uncool when I was younger but her humane attention to how movies make you feel now seems like the route back to enjoyment of cinema.
A materialist critique of the immaterial joys of the cinema.

*A little footnote for those unfamiliar with Kael.
She was an iconoclastic film critic. She wrote those words in 1980. She was born in 1919.
An article I was reading about the film critic Pauline Kael mentioned that she had championed the Robert Altman movie 'McCabe and Mrs. miller'.
I had never heard of PK, before I'd read that Tarantino may make a movie about her, but I immediately liked her for liking the Altman movie, because I've always had a weak spot for that film.
Well, it does have a great soundtrack*.
