I’ve discovered that I’m still generally the fastest at working in @Sketch for visual design.

I believe it’s due to the thoughtful UI/UX lending itself to a low-friction workflow, but also just how optimized and fast it actually is as a fully native macOS app can’t be undersold.

As much as I am skeptical of Canva ownership longterm, the new Affinity Studio is quite solid even with a free account. I have hope they won't enshittify or force you to train AI.

As an Affinity v2 user it hasn't taken long for me to feel at home in Studio. Rolling an entire design suite into 1 app is impressive and makes a lot of sense.

I also use Sketch, Figma, Penpot, Procreate, and Pixelmator Pro (hope Apple doesn't ruin) depending on the task for my anti-Adobe workflow.

The more you understand SVG, the less software you need to create it.

I just produced some logo deliverables by coding them directly by hand, and the result is so much better and cleaner than all my previous attempts in Inkscape (a disaster) or Penpot (much better but still not good enough).

To export them as PNGs, I simply display them on a web page and use the browser's screenshot function. It works really well and is incredibly satisfying.

My focus was on cleaning up the Nextcloud interface and striping it of unnecessary UI elements.

trying to use #penpot instead of figma, since the new ui is laggy

here's my experience so far:

- crash

- the ibm plex font supports one character less than in figma

- there's no way to make a pretty underline except flexbox
- wait there are no negative margins???

- what if i try to report it to tech support?
- oh the button doesn't do anything
- why doesn't the text align function align text that is inside a grid?

J'avais utilisé #PenPot il y a 3 ans de ça et j'avais été assez frustré par les bugs etc. J'avais mené un projet dessus mais c'était fastidieux et bancal.
Ce mois-ci j'ai de nouveau eu recourt pour un mini projet et c'était super. Vraiment bravo, l'évolution est très bonne et ça se sent ! 👏👏👏 Encore un projet libre qui a de beaux jours devant lui.
Si vous cherchez un équivalent libre à Figma, allez tester !
