On skinny green stalks there are some while flowers. Looking into the opening of one facing us we see a white textured inside with pink stripes leading in from the outer edges.

These wildflowers near Lake City, CO won’t last long — but they make the most of every moment.

#Penstemon humilis is a species of flowering plant in the #plantainFamily known by the common names low beardtongue and lowly beardtongue. It is native to the western United States. This species is a woody #perennial #herb or subshrub growing up to 35 centimetres (14 in) tall. The basal leaves form a mat about the base of the plant. The flowers are narrowly tubular. This species of Penstemon is found in #sagebrush, in #pinyonjuniperWoodland habitat, and in mountain forests and #tundra.

At #Nairn Falls, #Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada. It is a sacred place to the Líl'wat nation #lilwat. This community was growing by the side of the falls, in the spray, on basalt talus. To the best of my ability - #Cryptogramma acrostichoides (parsley fern), #Micranthes ferruginea (russet saxifrage), #Penstemon fruticosus (shrubby penstemon), #Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (kinnikinnick or bearberry), #mosses.

We're looking at the edge of a sharp drop-off (if you could see further you'd be looking at the water boiling through the chute at the base of the falls). The ground is carpeted in thick moss, several species. There are clumps of fresh green leaves (the ferns and kinnikinnick), purple flowers (the penstemon), and tiny white flowers (the saxifrage). It was cloudy that day so the light is a bit cool.

I have this penstemon I got from a British seed source. It was supposed to be P. deustus, but it isn't. I don't have a dissecting scope, so keying it out via Eflora is not working for me. I am hoping someone will look at this and say "oh! It's xxx".
Later: Well, it looks like a cultivar of P. hirsutus, which apparently can be white. The flowers aren't as open as the photos show, but are very similar otherwise.

Penstemon digitalis, aka foxglive beardstongue, a mostly white singular flower on a stalk. The back of the flower is pink, and the inside of the flower has two tiny splashes of purple on the roof of the inside. The background is blurry green and brown.

We’ve had a few Desert Blue Bells blooming this Spring in our Tucson, AZ, USA yard. I love their intense saturated blue-purple color! Our pink Penstemon (that I painted last year in my Perpetual Journal) have also been blooming for over 5 weeks now!
