@kev I've recently switched from a #Pixel 4a to #Pixel8.
The 8 is considered a smaller sized smartphone (compared to too many others) but it feels huge and really heavy compared to my old #Pixel4a which doesn't get any support any more.
I guess the current trend stays in favor for #phablets, whose definition changed over time because almost all #smartphone models would be phablets these days: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phablet
@Swede1952 @ety @x00001 I'm serious...
In fact such "#FWT" or "Fixed Wireless Terminal" adaptors are actually quite common, as they basically allow folks to keep their beloved phones - espechally those with hearing aid compatibility or additional functions like a wireless emergency button - and just transition from (sadly discontinued and) expensive "basic landline" to cheap pay-as-you postpaid or prepaid plans.
OFC those boxes exist in various forms, from something akin to a Router like the Fritz!Box LTE series to the more commonplace "Trashcan"-esque cylinders for #5G-#MIMO. Sadly most don't include like a batter backup but there are also "#GSM #DeskPhone|s" that are basically #StupidPhones (some absurdly expensive ones are just bulky #smartphones, #Phablets if not #Tablets) with dedicaded physical buttons and aside from being able to send/recieve #SMS and potentially offer a #WiFi hotspot as well as almost always have a prominently large antenna sticking out the back, they look like your average Desktop Phone from an office...
I bought a new phone, Google Pixel 7a, the screen’s 6.1″ diagonally and it’s featured on lists of the smallest, most compact smartphones available…
and I remember how, years ago, I had a Motorola Milestone (aka DROID1), 3.7″, and my friends used to make fun of me saying I was “carrying a television in my pocket”
Remember when phablets were a thing? Used to see people with those stupidly large tablets that they were trying to use as phones. I never owned one but had a sneaking respect for anybody that had one.
I had hoped that we'd have flat scroll type displays by now that would expand or roll up as requiref. Not those worryingly fragile golding phones.

@izaya +9001%
I want #smol #Smartphones that ain't huge-ass #phablets...
Something more akin to the original #iPhoneSE in form factor...
I'd even accept a 1080p or 720p screen for a 3" device...
