@punishmenthurts @pathfinder @actuallyautistic CBT worked really well for my blood test #phobia. By the third session, I went from panic attack at just being told I need a test to actually having a full blood draw.

Even though again, she was working on the premise that I was scared I'd bleed out or something. Whereas it was just fear at someone pointing a sharp thing at my veins haha. But the exposure therapy worked. She was the one who encouraged me to try again for autism assessment.

From what I've read of #AllenCarr, the approach has a lot of similarities to CBT. I recognise some of the logical processes from when I did my phobia therapy. Which went great btw!

I had my next dental appointment today. The dentist didn't have a dental assistant (she was stuck in Sydney), so he asked me to hold the suction myself after he positioned it..

This meant that he would say things like "that's perfect, Aby.. right there."

After the appointment he was going over my treatment plan with his supervisor, and talking about my dental phobia. At one point he said "You've been SO good about this. I'm so proud of how much work you're doing in coming here.. really proud of you!"
