Crane collapses into Times’ office building amid thrashing Milton winds
The crane remained crumpled across 1st Avenue South early Thursday, completely blocking the street.
The city said in a news release that no injuries have been reported at the site. The building damaged by the crane had closed ahead of Milton’s arrival Wednesday. No one from the Times’ newsroom was working inside when the crane collapsed.

But there is only so much force a crane can handle. That’s why St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth Welch warned anyone living near construction projects that use a crane to leave, and police made sure areas threatened were cleared.
Because cranes have to be both raised and removed carefully, it can take days or longer to remove them, Barth said.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla — Hurricane Milton's winds ripped off the roof of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The storm made landfall around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
We know that first responders were staging with cots inside the stadium. There were no reported injuries.

So Category 3 #Hurricane #Milton landfall was south of Tampa Bay, in Siesta Key in Sarasota County. So reverse surge in Tampa Bay now. Various storm warnings in effect.
