nix-sidecar is tightly-coupled to Anthropic's deploy. But it's only about 200 lines of code, so it would be quite easy to re-implement, took about a day and a half.

Dockerfiles don’t scale — no abstractions, copy-paste between files; limited parallelism, multi-stage kinda sucks; non-reproducibility; bloated images; linear caching.

i just saw the #planetnix speaker lineup today and i am not sure what went wrong there but there's zero women or visibly queer people on it. that is not the real nix community.

i am not there but i also wouldn't be with a lineup like that. yikes.

recall that at nixcon 2022 i was one of very few women speakers (i think there were 1 or 0 others?). at nixcon 2023 i was one of three creatures wearing animal ears on stage. this is what we have had; this is what the community looks like. the most competent creatures i know would wear silly ears on stage.

to be fair um. i think it's the successor of the anduril conference of last year (nixcon na) that caused several resignations because of the fascists sponsoring it. at least it's unofficial this time, but man, a conference that was entangled last year with the missile company being a sausage fest really stretches my innuendo capabilities here.

if you're there, have fun, meet some people! i genuinely hope it's significantly better in person in spite of the dire appearances from afar.
