Did a little painting this afternoon of a row of houses on this beach boulevard. It’s kind of surreal while the NATO summit is going on and wars are getting started and are ongoing of course. And I am standing here, just painting stuff. Not much else I can do I suppose.

On our China trip, Chengdu, the temple was closed, the rain started and a gentle women offered to protect me with her umbrella. A sweet experience.

Our house and this tree were in the shade, but the sky was so sunny and bright. I tried to capture that contrast as best I could. I kinda like the way the neon sky does that.

Im participating in a pleinair air festival where a local art society invited a bunch of artists to paint outside. It’s an honor and frankly quite intimidating, since there are some heavy hitters here 😅. Anyways, the painting I made was of this interesting Sufi temple they have around here.

Went back to the marina the other day and got the big shape of a building and a coast guard cutter, and tried coloring / fine-lining after the fact.

It doesn’t feel plein air anymore but it’s such a strange contrast of shapes.

Toujours à Xi'an en Chine. La cour des stèles du musée de Beilin, avec ces pierres millénaires gravées de textes et d' images sur l'histoire et la philo. Le dessin à l'encre ne ressemblait à rien, l'aquarelle rajouté arrange la perspective.
