A Canadian flag. The Maple Leaf has been replaced with a rotten apple. Crawling out of the apple is a woim. Over the apple is Apple's 'Think Different' wordmark. The woim is crawling through one of the 'e's. The latest post by @pluralistic is about a very smart approach: the . I know very little about hardware manufacturing, but this looks really cool and feasible.

A US$100 bill, tinted red; the face of Ben Franklin has been replaced with the hostile red eye of HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey.'

A midcentury male figure in a suit seated at a yellow typewriter; his head has been replaced with the hostile red eye of HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. He sits in a steeply ranked lecture hall filled with wooden seats. A halo radiates from his head.

A shredder, shredding a giant US$100 bill. Benjamin Franklin's head has been replaced with a cliched 'hacker in a hoodie' illustration. The machine's faceplate bears the Claude Code wordmark. The background is the hostile red eye of HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey.'

The interior of a car, tinted cyberpunk green. The car's steering wheel has been replaced with a vintage Fisher Price steering wheel toy, which has been modified so that the malignant eye of HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey' glares out of it, and the Fisher Price logo has been replaced with the Openai wordmark. Through the windscreen rains down a 'code waterfall' effect as seen in the credit sequences of the Wachowskis' 'Matrix' movies. In the rear-view mirror, we see the reflected eyes of Mark Zuckerberg's metaverse avatar.

@CountHoldem
Hmmm. #pluralistic ‘s article didn’t cover political systems as such, and only addressed what could be done to get Web 2,0 back (sort of) in democratic countries where govts could be pressured to repeal certain laws and agreements. There was no talk of communism that i recall, so I didn’t address it at all. For the record I am nor a communist.

This… is a long read I’m warning you. But if you take the time to read it (over a couple of days if needs be) you will begin to understand there is no such thing as #FreeTrade, you will understand the power of the #TechBros and realise that America’s #USofA is a just a cover for predatory capitalism. More to the point, you will know that #Australia (and many other govts around the world) have been caving in to #US #Capitalists demands since the end of WW2 and it has cost us heaps, and currently costing us heaps more in terms of what we could be doing for ourselves instead. Weep my fiends, for the opportunites lost because our elected officials have been cowards over the many decades it took to make us #slaves to the US economy. Seriously, this #pluralistic talk is a light shining at the end of a long dark tunnel… there is hope there, and perhaps a breaking of chains?

The Earth from space. Squatting over North America, casting a long shadow and ringed by a red, spiky halo, is the poop emoji from the cover of the US edition of 'Enshittification,' with a grawlix-scrawled black bar over its mouth, wearing a Trump wig. Leaching through the starscape is a 'code waterfall' effect as seen in the credits of the Wachowskis' 'Matrix' movies.
