Next task: find an appropriate GIF to display from my Pico projector, during the #Plymouth #GlowRide. I also need to think about other lights I'll be using on my bike. After all, it's a GLOW ride!

Jekyll & Hyde rehearsal video- the narrator (played by Robin Buckfield) updates on the tale.
This is a #steampunk theatre drama that we are touring around #Devon (#brixham #exeter #torquay #kingsbridgedevon #Plymouth #Budleigh Salterton #kingskerswell and more) - tickets and information available at southdevonplayers.com/box-offi

In a steampunk (Victorian science-fiction) re-imagining of this chilling 19th Century tale, the brilliant doctor, Dr Jekyll, becomes fascinated with researching the nature of the human psyche, and the duality of good and evil, using forbidden experiments, leading to disaster. This adaptation is written from the original novella by Robert Louis Stevenson, following the original story closely, with added researched elements from Victorian scientific discoveries and texts on psychology, expanding the tale . The styling of the play is Victorian steampunk horror. This play contains some horror elements, but is designed to be suitable for all ages.

Sunday's #Reepham classic car show had some lovely exhibits. How about a small portion of ice cream before we start looking round, courtesy of this 1972 #Mini ice cream van.

If your tastes are a little more extravagant, perhaps a #Plymouth Cambridge would be more to your liking? This one is from 1952.

A tiny sky blue BMC Mini converted into an ice cream van. Signwritten 'Dee Dee's Luxury Ice Cream', it's a pick-up body (or a cut-down van) with a large white box on top which extends over the front of the cab and incorporates a serving window, in front of which an older couple are standing. Behind, a separate red Airstream-type caravan burger van can just be seen. They're parked at the edge of Reepham's market square, in front of some bollards and a low wall. Behind the wall, red-brick 18th century buildings provide an elegant backdrop.A beautiful curvy deep green Plymouth, dating from an era before extravagant fins. The front grille and bumper are large and chromed. The bumper has two huge chrome overriders and the grille appears to have three more. There are chrome strips along front and rear wings, chrome strips beneath all the windows, a chrome windscreen surround and a chrome bonnet strip. The hubcaps are - have a guess... yep - chrome, with a smaller circular red area, the better to see the chrome logos in the middle. Various modern vans and cars are in the background, in front of white-painted 18th century brick buildings. In the distance at the rear, a wooden notice board headed Reepham Town Council stands in front of a fence which surrounds an area of grass and trees.

Some #StreetArt characters peering down at the street below from a #Plymouth waterfront building for #FensterFreitag today. Clearly, with the city's history, Sir Francis Drake is represented on the left.

#Photography #Devon

We're looking at an upper floor of a building, painted white but in need of a touch up to repair some flaking and cracked areas. A thin strip of tan-coloured roof tiles just frames the top of the shot but we're mainly focussed on the three windows arranged horizontally across the centre of view. Each window is broadly identical, being a tall rectangular frame in which there are four evenly-sized window panes. The windows appear to be sash-opening but all are closed and the upper edge has a slight convex curve to it, not enough to quite count as an arch. Relief rail work around the frames and between each window gives the impression that each one is just behind tall crenellations of some fortified house. The left window is bare, each pane just black. Within the darkness of the room behind the right window we can just make out office equipment and the edge of a door on the far wall. The middle window is filled with painted artwork. The scene is of a sunset sky of orange over the dark blue sea and the silhouette of a tall-masted sailing ship. Two characters are at the bottom as if looking out on the street below. The bearded man on the left wears Elizabethan clothing in red with a large white ruff and is clearly Sir Francis Drake. The older man on the right seems more modern, wearing a plain green top and drinking from a large brandy glass.

Plymouth Brethren

This group is also known as the Assemblies of Brethren. They’re a low church & a Nonconformist Christian Movement. A low church, in Anglican Christianity, refers to those who give little emphasis to rituals.

Their history can be traced to Dublin, Ireland, in the mid to late 1820s. It originated from Anglicanism. This group emphasizes nuda scriptura. This is the belief that the Bible is the only authority for church doctrine & practice.

This group started in Dublin, Ireland. This is where several groups of Christians that met informally to celebrate the Eucharist together. The 1st meeting began in 1825. They didn’t have any liturgy, order of service, or even ministers. They believe that since their guide to do it was “the Bible alone” they sought to do it according to their own interpretation of the biblical text.

The first meeting on the British mainland was held in December 1831 in Plymouth, England. The assembly in Plymouth had more than 1,000 people, in fellowship, in 1845. They became known as “the brethren of Plymouth” & were then called “Plymouth Brethren.”

Here you can see a Plymouth.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to ask the owner, so I can only guess which model it is.
Based on the door hinge and the shape of the front fenders, I suspect that this is a 1933 PD Roadster.

Plymouth was a sub-brand of Chrysler founded in 1928.

The pictures were taken at the 13th Compact car and motorcycle meetup, organized by the "Auto- und Uhrenmuseum" #ErfinderZeiten in #Schramberg, #Germany.

Celebrating Cape Cod, Nantucket Island, and Martha’s Vineyard Communities

The region nearby to but generally to the south and east of Plymouth, Massachusetts, is often identified as clearly distinct from much of the remainder of New England, with unique maritime traditions largely associated with the crossroads locations along the Atlantic Ocean and the Massachusetts Bay, the latter of which is actually a small portion of the Gulf of Maine which may also extend toward the Bay of Fundy with the Canadian Maritimes. While Nantucket Island does in fact offer ferry […]
