#PolComm folks, I think we have made a mistake in the past ten years:

Following Cas Mudde, we've been calling a group of political actors "populists", implying that they were "illiberal democrats".

It should be apparent by now, that these actors are trying to destroy basic principles of #democracy (separation of powers, independent legal system, etc.). This is clearly not #democratic. For being democratic, it does not suffice to hold #elections.

We should reflect that in our writings.
