Marble River Rec Site
We packed up this morning and left Port Hardy. But not quickly. We had to make a million stops, like the busy Co-op where a totally swamped young employee refilled our propane tank while juggling everything else at the store. We are equipped with two 20 pound tanks and went almost two weeks on the first one! It’s powering our fridge and mostly just boiling the kettle once in awhile.
Then we found the town’s sani dump and dumped our tanks and added a bit more water to our water tank. […]
A lazy, down day in Port Hardy
We had grandiose plans of heading out on a camping adventure this morning with Colette but she got busy with her plumber at her building site and we were content just chilling out.
I made pancakes with our batter left over from yesterday, saving the best of the batch for Colette when she returned from another round of house decisions.
Kayleigh came by in the afternoon, and little Arby got a bath and a haircut!
Little dude smells so pretty now!
Colette and I ran a few errands. I learned […]

Afterwards, I tried to earn my keep, and I tackled her thick wet grass. Vegetation growth on this island is no joke! It was my first time using a battery powered lawnmower.
It didn’t have a ton of power and no side hatch to release the thick grass, so I kept raising the height […]
Made it to Port Hardy!
I got up earlier than usual this morning, hoping to send more time with Dad before he left the rest area. He was already up and planning his next adventure when I stuck my head out at 6am.
I got to watch him make his routine morning camping breakfast. Two eggs. Bread. Drip coffee.
The man sleeping behind us in the rest area was up too, and asked who was from the Yukon? He must have noticed our license plate. He said he installed the Yukon’s first traffic light! I said, oh you’re […]
