Postcard from Port Townsend, Washington, visited yesterday. Two to three times a year, Lemoine Studios comes out here from Seattle to spend a few hours. Never get tired of it, always love the place, which I first found in 1987 or so. I still get all emotional when the hill with the courthouse comes into view as I drive toward PT. Saw far more deer than other times and still wonder why it's so rare to encounter a male.

A look at the Salish inland sea from Port Townsend. It's a stormy, chilly fall day with amazing clouds and dramatic light. On a hill above downtown, the Jefferson County courthouse in Port Townsend is a sort of exuberant British-style brick building that always reminds me a little of St. Pancras station in London. Two deer rest on a lawn in front of a house in the uptown neighborhood of Port Townsend. Yesterday, we saw dozens of the animals, many more than a few months ago. Some owners fence their yards or parts of them, but many don't, and the animals cruise around fearlessly, munching grass and shrubs and maybe some other things.Port Townsend is a bit reminiscent of a tiny British town around 1892, but also has a strong native heritage and tries to keep the culture alive through art, walking paths, naming, and other reminders. This welcome pole by the Northwest Maritime Center was a gift from the Jamestown S'klallam Tribe.

Getting a #motorcycle / #scooter really has opened up some of my old cycling routes for me. I'm able to get shots that I normally wouldn't have gotten on the bicycle due to time constraints. #WhidbeyIsland #KitsapPeninsula #PortTownsend

A pair of metal doors to a bunker. Each door has a two white sketches of a great blue heron standing in water forming a sort of grid of four.

Spinning up this morning #vinyl #ThePolice #music I picked this up at Quimper Sound in #PortTownsend and it’s absolutely smokes my setup. Super rich sound.

Image of a vinyl record cover for "Zenyatta Mondatta" by The Police, featuring the band members’ profiles in front of a gradient background of orange and blue. The cover is still sealed in plastic.

Hazy but lovely view of the #sanjuans today from #fortwordenstatepark #porttownsend

Also, falling can be deadly, FYI.

View of the San Juan Islands from the Walker bunker. Part of a sign is visible at the bottom of the photo that says “falling can be deadly” because it’s the edge of a bluff.

Quimper Sound
#PortTownsend #WA
quimpersound.com
Selection size: medium-small
Selection tier: S
Pricing: $$$
Notes: a rather eclectic collection in the best sense of the word. Not only do they have A level titles but they have rare and local selections as well. New and used varieties along with musical instruments. Prices are what I would consider reasonable.

The #PortTownsend #NoKings demo and rally was wonderful.
I think we had 20% of the population!

Was out with friends camping at #FortCasey #WA a couple months back. The winds were howling and the rain was intense in the beginning; but a wonderful break in the the weather allowed for some great lighting just as the #WSDOT ferry set off for #PortTownsend.

#HoodCanalBridge is closed to vehicle traffic until further notice, per #WSDOT. This #EV driver starting a journey in #PortAngeles is saving electricity, but not time, by taking ferries back towards #Seattle via #PortTownsend and #ClintonWA. It’s a beautiful day to sit motionless in Washington, at least.

It’s nettle season!

I don’t count it as spring until the first nettle soup.

#PortTownsend

Close up photo of about eight small nettle plants on a forest floor, with twigs and several blades of grass.A nettle meadow among trees, mostly shady except for a tiny bit of tree and light green leaves in the sun, towards the back.
