Wie mir eine Person der Rechtsabteilung meiner Universität am Telefon erzählte, gäbe es bei #PostCovid ja viele Behandlungsmöglichkeiten.
Ich war leider zu sehr mit der Uni-Bürokratie, um die ich mich wegen PostCovid kümmern muss, und habe leider versäumt nachzufragen, ob es auch welche gibt, die tatsächlich funktionieren…

No more bike stuff today. Used a spoon putting clean dishes and silverware up, helping with laundry, and helping to put our weekly grocery delivery away. I need to save one for helping make dinner in a couple of hours. 🥄 🥄 🥄 💀 💀

I also need to make sure I can manage the trip into Downtown tomorrow and back. 3 hours of public transportation round trip, one way coming home with a bike. Going to bed early tonight.

Worst case, I expect to be in bed all day Tuesday.

Long COVID, ME/CFS, and other post-infectious diseases pose new questions for medicine and society. With the long-term data from the NAKO Health Study, Germany now aims to systematically clarify why some infections leave lasting effects and how those affected can be better supported.

Post-infectious diseases are on the rise. Infections such as COVID-19 can lead to chronic conditions such as Long COVID or ME/CFS months or even years later, affecting hundreds of thousands of people in Germany.
As part of the National Decade Against Post-Infectious Diseases, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) is investing approximately 500 million euros over the next decade to systematically research causes, disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and therapies and to improve care.
The NAKO Health Study, with 200,000 participants, provides crucial long-term data and enables a rare before-and-after comparison with data and biosamples from before, during, and after infection.
The aim of research is to determine the actual prevalence of post-infectious diseases more accurately, to better understand the underlying biological processes, and to effectively support those affected through targeted interventions in the future.

I overdid it yesterday. Worked a lot on my bikes. Crashed. Fell asleep for 12 hours. Woke up feeling rested for the first time in a week and a half.

I also woke up with very sore legs and feet. Stiff lower back. I think l got a lot of steps in. So today, I made sure to pace myself.

Probably sleep again soon. Feeling almost normal for the first time in a while.

Even a mild case of COVID-19 or the flu can impact the body long after the fever and cough fade, according to new Tulane University research that may help explain why some people struggle to feel fully recovered weeks or months later.

Tulane researchers found that while both viruses can leave lasting lung damage, only SARS-CoV-2 infection caused persistent brain inflammation and small blood vessel injury, even after the virus was no longer detectable. The findings, published in Frontiers in Immunology, help explain why long COVID often includes neurological symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue and mood changes, while influenza is more commonly associated with respiratory complications.

'Inspectie onderzoekt postcovidbehandeling door pijnkliniek'

"De Inspectie Gezondheidszorg en Jeugd (IGJ) onderzoekt of een kliniek in Velsen-Noord de regels voor medisch-wetenschappelijk onderzoek heeft overtreden door mensen met postcovidklachten te behandelen met het middel lidocaïne. Een woordvoerster van de inspectie bevestigt dat na berichtgeving door Follow the Money.[*]

"Omdat er geen controlegroep is, kan niet vastgesteld worden wat het normale beloop van klachten zou zijn geweest zonder behandeling, of als deelnemers een placebo hadden gehad"

"Het onderzoek kent fundamentele methodologische tekortkomingen”, concludeerden reviewers van het vakblad. Volgens hen waren deelnemers met betere uitkomsten oververtegenwoordigd in de onderzoeksresultaten. Ze waarschuwden voor “valse hoop”."

"Dat de IGJ onderzoek doet, betekent “dat er vragen zijn gerezen en wij verlenen alle medewerking aan de beantwoording van die vragen”, laat de kliniek weten."
