Just used ChatGPT to organize some of my understandings of international economics and finance from a post-Keynesian perspective, including issues like balance of payments, trade balance and terms of trade, distributional effects of export promotion, Debt Crisis and austerity, hyperinflation and currency collapse, the ramifications of interest rate hikes etc. I will organize them later when I arrive home.

I just had an interesting thought exercise: here's an analysis of the circular flow of income, money and other dynamics of economic simulation in Victoria 3.

Hey I know people often complained about ChatGPT producing made-up referrences but it seems legit when being asked to produce some reading lists. People who are focused on similar subjects as me might also find some useful stuff in this recommended list.

Did you know we always used price controls to fight inflation?

The involuntary unemployed at a floor wage of $0 as one example.
The discount rate at a central bank as a ceiling for the ‘price’ of money as another.

Price controls are implicit in the economy, as are buffer stocks

In some economic circles there are complaints about price controls saying they don’t work but price controls are everywhere right now & work correctly everyday.

Price controls are everywhere

Minimum wage
Bulk billing medicare
Reserve bank discount rate
Maximum penalty in a fine
Medication on the PBS
Concession Eligibility for PBS

Can you think of more?

Maybe

Minimum "award" wages
NDIS vouchers
HECS/HELP fees
