Social benefit charities have, at least notionally, the constitutional purpose of helping people in society.
We should demand that our government have such a purpose too, and dissolve those that do not.
More importantly, Unlike a #charity organisation, the government of #Australia is entirely in control of how many Australian dollars they spend, and when, and on what, and how often.
Anything that can be purchased in Australian dollars, our federal government can pay it if they choose to, whenever they choose to, there is *nothing* stopping federal government from doing that.
So it's a shameful abdication of duty, for our federal government to refuse to spend whatever dollars are needed to, for example, house every person in the country; while also expecting praise for recommending *we* (with leftover funds) give money to *charity organisations* (with less capacity to use it than government) instead.
How the Trussell Trust grew from a garden shed to 1,300 food banks https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/dec/27/how-the-trussell-trust-grew-from-a-garden-shed-to-1300-food-banks?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
While I quite like that this article has a local twist and I know one of the interviewees, it answers the wrong question.
The right question is WHY #trusselltrust needed to grow so damn much?
It’s such an important charity but never forget, the demand didn’t make itself. It’s a result of policy. Food banks aren’t inevitable, they’re a choice.

@tultican The goal is not to “dumb down” students, but to “dumb down” those unable to access excellent education through homeschooling or private school. The goal is to increase economic and educational gaps between majority and minority groups. This is definitely tending toward Holocaust. #SystematicRacism #Poverty #PovertyisaPolicyChoice #Education #EducationPolicy #Holocaust #Genocide #discrimination
There are too many citizens in this country who will gladly spend more money to ensure that certain people suffer, rather than spend less to ensure that everybody’s needs get met.
Nobody ever fixes the base cause of all this. POVERTY.

If the world could only come to a consensus that all human beings deserve dignity, safety and a sense of belonging, we’d have a LOT less refugees that needed to be rehomed. Mankind HAS to break out of the cycle of ‘winning’ at the cost of everybody else. #PovertyisaPolicyChoice
