QDX Assembly begins! I haven’t built anything in quite a while…so this will be an adventure. #hamradio #ft8 #qrplabs
I built a #QRPGuys 40-10 #Minituner a few years ago but never built a wire for it. Thanks to current #Geomagneticstorm conditions, I built a 40 -15 Meter Linked #EFHW that I can use with my #Youkits #YouKitsHB1B #HB1B and my #QRPlabs #QDX. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio is so much fun!
@bgarfoot if I can have only one, then it must do everything.
The IC-705 never appealed to me but the #ftx1 does.
If I can bring along an HT, then I would opt for the #lab599 #tx500 because of its ruggedness, and it being light weight and having a very low RX current draw.
If I want to go realy light weight, I grab the #qrplabs #qmx. Very high quality radio for small a price.
Keep your nose to the grindstone...and your transistors. Initial test of the QRP Labs QMX+ for extended use as a WSPR beacon = flying colors

Finally got round to getting acquainted with my #QRPLabs #qmx. For reasons known only to her, Pippi the #whippet has decided to get involved and is currently “helping”.

it's time to unwind

Really enjoyed this thorough presentation "Introduction to the QRP Labs QMX+ Transceiver" by @kp4md for the River City Amateur Radio Communications Society.

Carol, what would name the category of radios you discuss in the QMX geneology at 1:10:15? Low cost, independent manufacturer radios? I'm writing something for the @hamchallenge week HC51 challenge and would like to cite your presentation. I'm writing about cost accessibility for #NewHams
I continue to regret the rookie mistake of applying 13.8V to my #QRPlabs #QDX digital mode transceiver. Due to shaky hands and needing to desolder a blown SMD driver IC, I got a repair estimate. Sliding scale $95 - $120 + parts & postage. Replacement cost, basically.
Don’t think I can go there so I will have to put this broken radio on the shelf until I have time to figure it out. Dang, it was a fun radio before I let the smoke out.
This might be unpopular opinion but I think QMX firmware is irritating to use. get it many times into a state that it just doesn't respond to most of the buttons.
Also if the SWR is exceeded, there is no error or anything showing this on screen. Hans said that there should be, but there isn't.
And the loud POP sound when you start it up. It used to be worse but it's still horrible if using headphones. And I end up restarting it quite often as I get it to some weird state.
A new post on my blog about the building of the QCX mini from QRP-labs!

Finally have some time to play around with my qmx. Ft8 on 20m with my diy efhw. Will maybe do some cw later.
I mocked up wannabe-KH1 handheld CW-tranceiver, with tuner and battery. The telescope antenna is 1.5m long.
Couldn't get any RBN to spot me but at least local KiwiSDR heard me on from inside house on 40m and 20m - no high hopes for QSOs still :)
Absolutely like this already! I think I can call this true QRP?
My xmas gift finally arived in the post. A fun kit to put together.
Had to tinker with the turn spacing on the lpf's (after taking the photo) and now i have around 3 - 5w output on all bands between 20-80m.
And yes before someone points it out... I did forget to solder the left encoder and fixed it later when I realized I had no volume control.
