This crazed alternative music, it really shouldn't be mistaken for jazz save by influence, comes from a desire by Anthony Braxton mentee Mary Halvorson and pal Kevin Shea to make something different. The band wound up making three albums, albeit with shifting line ups, until it appears to be replaced by Code Girl, who take it in a different direction. This album is first and foremost for those who like highly quirky music. The closest comparison I can get is Deerhoof, members of whom Halvorson recorded with at a later time, though I can hear some Stereolab in there as well, especially in the guitar and vocals. These are songs with verses and choruses and so on, but oh those drums...
