Londons "Royal Borough" of Kensington & Chelsea wants to replace up to 2,200 sheffield cycle parking stands with a "unique #RBKC cast iron model".
RBKC is the borough which ripped out it's only pandemic cycle lane, and has zero protected cycle space.
There's naff all road space to ride a bicycle safely, but the poshest borough in the UK - with flaky finances - wants to splurge over £450k on this nonsense.
Also included are "undeveloped" electric vehicle charging points.

I've argued cheekily for a long time that central London councils like #Westminster and #RBKC are car park operators and property developers, with subsidiary interests in collecting rubbish, teaching kids to read and burying the dead.

In December 2020 #RBKC controversially removed the protected cycle lane from Kensington High Street, just seven weeks into a scheduled 18-month trial and before construction on the scheme had been fully completed, after backlash from reportedly 0.2 per cent of the residents.
Earlier this week, active travel campaigners attended the council’s committee meeting [...] claiming that there was “still no progress towards safe cycling on this dangerous road”.

2/ #RBKC #Kensington & #Chelsea Council is currently being challenged in court by the #BetterStreets K&C crew (see https://betterstreets4kc.org.uk/ ) regarding the council's removal of the Kensington High Street #HighStreet cycle track.
The council's proposed new planning policies include the usual virtuous stuff about supporting active travel, public transport etc ... whereas, in reality, the #Conservative council obstructs meaningful change.
Folk can use the consultation to ask for change (again).
