Auckland from Rangitoto.
Waitangi Day holiday in 2016 found me up the Rangitoto volcano in the Hauraki Gulf just outside of Auckland, New Zealand.
I'd been up to the summit doing some Ham Radio operating for 'Summits On The Air" (SOTA)
I stopped to snap this photo of Auckland from around half way down to the ferry, Capturing the CBD, the Sky Tower and the Harbour Bridge as well as several of the extinct volcanoes in the area.

The green bush on the slopes of the volcano sweep down to the pale blue waters of the Hauraki Gulf. The city is beyond, with the high buildings of the Central Business District viewable, along with the Sky tower in the centre. Several extinct volcanoes can be seen rising from the area, and the Harbour Bridge can be seen in the distance on the right of the image.
A couple of small sail boats can be seen in the water, and a container ship can just be seen on the right of the picture.

On this day... in 2016, after a close to 26 hour flight from the UK, I found myself, at the summit of Rangitoto, the extinct volcano just outside Auckland in NZ.
I had my ham radio with me, set it up and 'activated' it for Summits On The Air'!
It was probably a bad idea to do this on the Waitangi Day public holiday!
(Better weather than of recent days though)
