At least personally, I was introduced to the wonders of warez very early on (1970s/early 1980s e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Open_Letter_to_Hobbyists) before FSF or GNU even existed.

I consider it worth knowing that #RAZOR1911 (also see: https://m.pouet.net/prod.php?which=55991) was formed days before the FSF.
